War- What Is It Good For?
Posted By: Dennis Wright
March 29, 2020 04:22 PM

Life is so precious War is the enemy of life Life should be forever BUT IT IS NOT. When your twenty You think you have your WHOLE life Not when your going to combat Then you think your going to die. To be taking it at one day at a time Is all you can do To be grateful just to wake up Knowing that you made it through Another day or night! To see buddies leave after their tour Is a good thing. But to to see buddies leave Because of casualty, is not. Two of my buddies are now GONE GONE is a “nice” way of saying That they are now DEAD. Another wounded and sent home. I thought my time was coming One particular night Physically I lived But I am broken mentally. The horrors of war I will never forget From the burned-up cook To the shot-up civilian. The screams I will never forget Maybe that’s why I like QUIET. And I also like music Because they bring me PEACE. It’s a struggle for peace As it is so temporary As I always see the faces Of my GONE buddys. I will not own a firearm As I have seen what they do When they get used It can’t be unused. As the title and the song says War what is it good for, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I love my family and I know its been a STRAIN But they bring me peace To have PEACE is GODS gift THANK YOU, GOD. Sincerely Dennis J Wright

Hi all, I'm looking for information regarding my uncle whom was adopted at the age of 2 (from Cleveland, Ohio - his birthname was Rictor). He was adopted by Mr. & Mrs. Maurice E. Olson - he served in the USAF flew 195 Combat Support Missions, I was told he left the Air Force as MSgt, he received the Air Medal with 4 oak leafs, and the Meritorious Service Metal. He had 7 children and 2 step kids, he died in 1979. I know he attended the University of Maryland, University of Delaware, Golden Gate University and Saint Leos. He had a Psychology and Sociology degree. He is buried in Alexandria Rapides Parish, LA. He found Alpha and Omega (which I'm told dealt with men and divorce, but no luck on that yet). I'm really just looking for ANY info, any way to contact my cousins, and so on. Thanks for taking the time to read this. He was born in 1937 and died in 1979. Thanks, Lisa
