U.S. Navy Active Duty (1985 - 1989)
I was at Training Squadron for my entire stent in the U.S.Navy. I worked in the Administrative office at Training Squadron SEVEN. The Administration Department at Training Squadron SEVEN (VT-7) keeps the squadron organized and running smoothly behind the scenes. From taking care of personnel records to handling paperwork and official correspondence, the team makes sure service members have the support they need throughout their time with the squadron. The department helps with everything from check-ins and transfers to leave requests, awards, evaluations, and other administrative tasks. They also maintain important records, assist command leadership with day-to-day operations, and ensure the squadron follows Navy policies and procedures. Simply put, the Administration Department is the support system that keeps everything on track, allowing instructors, students, and leadership to stay focused on training the next generation of Navy and Marine Corps aviators. My first year was filled with exciting experiences, and before long, the squadron transitioned to a civilian contract. I was one of seven people left at the squadron. I would have stayed in the military as I had finished school (Legalman's School) and could have been a real asset to the military. They didn't offer me a duty station that made sense for me at that time in my life, so I got out and went back to school. I know have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Political Science from Texas Tech University and an MBA from Trinity University. Today I am retired and enjoying a life of leisure playing golf everyday and seeing the world. I thank VT-7 for giving me strength to always move forward in life. Go EAGLES!
