• Commissioned in 1968: USCGC Decisive (WMEC-629) was commissioned on August 23, 1968, as a Reliance-class medium endurance cutter in the United States Coast Guard. • Multiple Homeports: Over its service life, Decisive was homeported in several locations, including New Castle, New Hampshire; Portsmouth, Virginia; Pascagoula, Mississippi; and Pensacola, Florida. • Drug Interdiction Operations: Decisive played a significant role in counter-narcotics missions, seizing several tons of illegal drugs during patrols in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. • Rescue Missions: The cutter participated in dramatic search and rescue operations, including the rescue of Haitian migrants and mariners in distress. • Hurricane Response: USCGC Decisive was deployed for disaster relief and humanitarian missions following major hurricanes, such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005. • Migration Interdiction: The cutter was frequently involved in interdicting migrants attempting dangerous sea crossings, saving hundreds of lives over its service. • High Seas Patrols: Decisive regularly conducted law enforcement patrols enforcing U.S. and international laws, including fisheries regulations in the Atlantic and Caribbean. • Modernization: The vessel received several upgrades and overhauls throughout its career to maintain operational effectiveness and extend its service life. • Decorated Service: USCGC Decisive earned numerous awards, including Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendations and Humanitarian Service Medals. • Decommissioned in 2023: After 55 years of distinguished service, USCGC Decisive was officially decommissioned on March 2, 2023, at a ceremony in Pensacola, Florida.
