The 80th Division, now known as the 80th Training Command (The Army School System), was originally constituted in the National Army in 1917 during World War I, drawing its soldiers primarily from Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. The division distinguished itself in major campaigns such as the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Reactivated for World War II, the 80th landed in France in August 1944, fighting through Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, and across Germany, earning a reputation for tenacity and effectiveness. In the postwar era, the 80th became part of the U.S. Army Reserve and transitioned to a training mission, preparing soldiers for service worldwide.
