The 557th Ground Ambulance Company was originally constituted during World War II to provide critical battlefield medical evacuation and support. Activated in 1944, the unit served in the European Theater, transporting wounded soldiers from the front lines to field hospitals. Over the decades, the 557th has supported numerous operations, including deployments during the Korean War and various humanitarian missions. Today, the 557th Ground Ambulance continues its legacy of rapid medical response and life-saving care within the United States Army.
