The **256th General Hospital (ASAR)** was a U.S. Army medical unit activated during World War II to provide comprehensive hospital care for military personnel in combat theaters. Initially constituted in 1943, the unit trained extensively in the United States before deploying to the European Theater of Operations. During the war, the 256th General Hospital played a critical role in treating wounded soldiers, performing surgeries, and supporting recovery operations in the aftermath of major battles. After the conclusion of hostilities, the unit contributed to occupation duties and demobilization efforts before being inactivated at the end of the war.
