**240th TOW Division, HWVM – Unit History** The 240th TOW Division of the HWVM (Heavy Weapons and Vehicles Mechanized) was established in 1987 as part of a modernization initiative within the army’s armored forces. Tasked primarily with anti-armor operations, the unit was equipped with advanced Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire-guided (TOW) missile systems mounted on mechanized platforms. Throughout the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the 240th participated in several key exercises and peacekeeping missions, demonstrating flexibility in both offensive and defensive roles. Renowned for its high readiness and technical proficiency, the division remains a cornerstone of the HWVM’s rapid response capability.
