The 2nd Battalion, 222nd Field Artillery Regiment (2/222nd FA) is a unit of the Utah Army National Guard with a distinguished history dating back to its original organization in southern Utah in 1854 as part of the Nauvoo Legion. The unit served with distinction in World War II, most notably as part of the 44th Infantry Division in the European Theater, providing critical artillery support during major campaigns in France and Germany. Following the war, the 2/222nd FA continued to serve in various state and federal missions, including domestic disaster response and overseas deployments. Today, the battalion remains a vital component of the Utah National Guard, upholding its proud heritage of service and readiness.
