The 1st Military Intelligence Battalion, Aerial Reconnaissance and Surveillance (1st MIBARS), is a specialized unit within the Philippine Army tasked with providing critical aerial intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) support. Established in 2018, the unit was formed to enhance the Army’s capability to gather real-time battlefield intelligence using unmanned aerial systems and other modern ISR platforms. Since its inception, the 1st MIBARS has played a key role in counter-insurgency and anti-terrorism operations, particularly in Mindanao, by providing actionable intelligence that enables precise military operations. The battalion continues to advance its technical expertise and operational reach, contributing significantly to the Army’s overall intelligence and security efforts.
