The 1st Battalion, 63rd Armor Regiment (1-63 AR), known as "Dragons," is a distinguished armored battalion assigned to the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division (1ID), "The Big Red One." The unit traces its lineage to the 63rd Armor, which was activated in 1942 and saw action with the 13th Armored Division during World War II. Over its history, 1-63 AR has participated in major operations including Operation Desert Storm, peacekeeping missions in the Balkans, and multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Today, 1-63 AR continues its legacy of excellence, readiness, and service as a key armored force within the U.S. Army.
