The 1st Battalion, 377th Field Artillery Regiment (1-377 FAR) traces its lineage to the 377th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion, activated in 1942 as part of the 101st Airborne Division during World War II. The unit distinguished itself in major campaigns, including Normandy, Operation Market Garden, and the Battle of the Bulge, providing critical airborne artillery support. Throughout the Cold War and into the 21st century, 1-377 FAR continued to serve with distinction, participating in operations such as Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. As of recent years, the battalion has been an integral part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 11th Airborne Division, maintaining readiness to provide airborne artillery support wherever needed.
