The 587th Missile Maintenance Squadron was a United States Air Force unit activated during the Cold War to support the nation’s intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) fleet. Established in the early 1960s, the squadron was primarily responsible for the maintenance, repair, and readiness of Titan II missile systems at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas. Its personnel ensured the operational reliability of nuclear deterrent forces throughout critical periods of heightened global tension. The squadron was eventually inactivated in 1986, coinciding with the decommissioning of the Titan II missile system as part of strategic arms reduction initiatives.
