514th Air Mobility Wing

• During World War II, the 514th Troop Carrier Wing flew transport missions in Europe and North Africa. • The 514th Air Mobility Wing was activated in 1947 as the 514th Troop Carrier Wing, Air National Guard. • The wing was reorganized as the 514th Tactical Airlift Wing in 1963 and later as the 514th Military Airlift Wing in 1972. • In 1988, the wing was redesignated as the 514th Air Mobility Wing and has since been responsible for worldwide airlift and aerial refueling missions. • The wing has deployed to support operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations around the globe. • In 2012, the 514th Air Mobility Wing celebrated its 65th anniversary and received the Air Mobility Command Service Award. • The wing is based at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey. • In 2017, the wing marked its 70th anniversary with a special celebration honoring its history and contributions to the Air Force. • The wing has a long history of excellence in aerial transportation and refueling, earning numerous awards and accolades over the years. • The 514th Air Mobility Wing continues to play a vital role in supporting military operations around the world, ensuring the rapid and efficient movement of personnel and cargo.
