The 462nd Organizational Maintenance Squadron (OMS) was a unit of the United States Air Force, primarily associated with aircraft maintenance duties. Activated during the Cold War era, the squadron played a vital role in supporting the operational readiness of bomber and reconnaissance aircraft, particularly while assigned to the 462nd Strategic Aerospace Wing at Larson Air Force Base, Washington. The 462nd OMS was responsible for the day-to-day upkeep, inspections, and servicing of B-52 Stratofortress bombers and KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft, ensuring mission capability during a critical period of the Strategic Air Command's deterrence posture. The squadron was eventually inactivated following the base's closure and the restructuring of Air Force maintenance organizations in the late 1960s.
