The 4447th Combat Crew Training Squadron (CCTS) was a United States Air Force unit primarily tasked with training combat crews for the F-111 Aardvark aircraft during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Activated at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, the squadron played a pivotal role in preparing aircrews for operational deployment and advanced tactical missions. The 4447th CCTS focused on both flight and ground instruction, ensuring pilots and weapons systems officers were proficient with the F-111’s advanced avionics and variable-sweep wing capabilities. The squadron was eventually inactivated as the F-111 program matured and crew training functions were consolidated under other operational units.
