The 416th Security Police Squadron (416th SPS) was a United States Air Force unit tasked with base security and law enforcement. Stationed at Griffiss Air Force Base, New York, during the Cold War era, the squadron was responsible for protecting critical Strategic Air Command assets, including B-52 bombers and KC-135 tankers. The 416th SPS maintained high readiness for both peacetime and wartime contingencies, providing security against sabotage, espionage, and other threats. The unit was inactivated following the restructuring and eventual closure of Griffiss AFB in the 1990s.
