The 3242nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (AMS) was an Air Force unit stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, during the Cold War era. Established in the mid-20th century, the 3242nd AMS was responsible for the maintenance and support of a wide variety of test and operational aircraft, contributing significantly to the Air Force Armament Center’s mission. The squadron played a crucial role in ensuring aircraft readiness for weapons development programs and test flights conducted at Eglin AFB. The 3242nd AMS was eventually inactivated or redesignated as part of broader Air Force organizational changes and realignments.
