I was born in Madison Wisconsin in 1975. I moved many times growing up living in California, Connecticut and Massachusetts. I dropped out of high school when I was 16 and moved to California where I worked as a wild-land firefighter while I completed my high school equivalency. I joined the Army in 1995 when I was 19. I served as an infantryman and airborne ranger in the 1st Platoon, Cco, 1st Battalion 504rth PIR in the 82nd Airborne. I was deployed to Haiti in 1996 with my company. I left active duty at the end of 1999. I served in the Massachusetts national guard in the 1st Battalion, 181st Infantry, I served in the battalion reconnaissance platoon as a sniper until I self the in 2003. Following the sept 11 attack I was called to active dusty service and stationed at ft. Monmouth for 1 year. I was married in 2002. I completed by Bachelor in Science in Biology from Brandeis university in 2004. I received my PhD in Genetics from Dartmouth Medical School in 2010. I have been a research scientist in various positions since then at MIT, Harvard and in genetic medicine companies with a focus on gene editing. I have two children who are now in college.
