Ashby Franklin
Ashby Franklin, RA# other words a Volunteer. Joined US Army 1968. The fellows need my help, they were getting there ass kicked. So I trained at Fort Bragg. E-10-2 by the gas chamber. Left there after Basic went to Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, for AIT Combat Engineer. Left there for 3 week RVN training. After that they sent me to Germany because I had relative in Country in the Nam. I sit it out for a few months. Then to that lovely country Vietnam. I was 17 and I loved every minute, except the black white issues we had over there at that time. I actually Loved the Army, I always had a understanding about what the rules were, and had no problem with them. Sometime other people try to twist thing to take advantage. But I learned that you must stand for what is right no matter what. I would still be in Viet Nam if they had not made me leave. I was a wonderful Job. And I did it well.
