The 1st Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment (1-17 FA) was originally constituted in the Regular Army in 1916 and has a storied history of service. The unit participated in major campaigns during World War I and World War II, providing crucial artillery support in both the European and Pacific Theaters. Throughout the Cold War and into the present day, 1-17 FA has served in various conflicts, including deployments to Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Today, the battalion continues its mission as a vital component of the U.S. Army’s field artillery, upholding a proud tradition of excellence and readiness.
