The 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment (5-7 ADA) traces its lineage to the original 7th Regiment of Artillery, constituted in 1898. Reactivated and reflagged several times throughout the 20th century, the unit has served in key air defense roles during the Cold War, operating Nike and Patriot missile systems in Europe. Since the end of the Cold War, 5-7 ADA has been stationed in Germany as part of U.S. Army Europe, providing critical theater air and missile defense. The battalion has also deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, demonstrating its commitment to both NATO and U.S. global security objectives.
