You can check the court house if he registered his dd 214. It’s his dd 214 that you should try finding or look for it’s the final document you get. It list dates of service, medals, deployments, schools. He should have his copy in papers he kept.

I didn't get to Ft Polk until 98 but I never really left. I'm from Louisiana and retired here. I spent 15 years of my career here. If you have any questions about how the post changed after the deactivation I can help. I can tell you Ft Polk is unrecognizable from back then. They bulldozed the old Headquarters building on the corner and JRTC and 10th MTN took over. I served in 2/4 IN BN 4/10 MTN. HWY 10 is dead now nothing on it Entrance road has maybe 5 fast food places left. All the deployments killed the economy around the Post everything in Leesville now. But we finally got a Chillies lol.

Reservist on active duty roughly 1965 to 1966 station out of Staton Island for Ocean Patrol on Station Echo, in Atlantic, for 30 days. Loran beacon, ship distress rescue, etc. Written up in Nat Geographic.
Dry Dock Norfolk after patrol for refurbishment. Then Active Duty to Reservist status...for 6yrs+.
Enlisted in Wilmington, DE. Roughly 1965 after grad from Univ of DE. Vietnam era.
Often mustered with naval unit reservist in Tulsa, OK, following move to Oklahoma as a civie in business capacity.

Greetings! My Father, SP4 Gary E. Rumler, was assigned to the "2d Security Company, 1 LOG" (per leave papers) &/or the "2nd Security Guard Company" (per military driver license) from 27 May 1969 to 4 Aug 1970. I've found general references to the 2nd Security Company attached to the 1st Logistical Command at Camp Baxter in Da Nang, & a different Security Guard Company in Qui Nhon....but I was hoping someone could help me out with specifics. Unit structure, location(s), duties, maybe a roster, etc. I have a short term goal of building my Father an ACCURATE veteran ballcap, to coincide with mine...& the caps I've ordered for both my deceased Grandfather & Great Grandfather...so the four generations of veterans can get together this Veteran's Day for a drink. my husband was not in transportation but in crash rescue 14th , do you remember mortar attack nov 27 1067. he and crew saved several aircraft in the blackbird area. i have photo of one of the planes from Randolph AFB and letter from member of the crash rescue team but i need one 0r more men that were there. My husband retired as CSM many awards but the bronze star has never surfaced, not in his records. thks from his widow of 54 years
