What's a Vietnam, Sketches and Poetry from the Bush
BY John Niemi
ISBN-13: 978-1-4637-9888-8 ISBN-10:
As a grunt, Niemi carried a sketchbook and some pens along with his M60 and other Government Issued equipment through the jungles and rice paddies of South Vietnam and Cambodia. The drawings and poetrywere an attempt to maintain sanity and mentally escape the atrocities of war. During breaks in the action, buddies used to inquire,"hey Niemi, anything new in your book today?" Then they would ponder the muddied pages for endless hours. "When you get back to the world, man, send me a copy".

Six Degrees of the Bracelet: Vietnam's Continuing Grip
BY John A. Siegfried
ISBN-13: 978-1-4628-4578-1 ISBN-10:
Six degrees of separation refers to the idea that everyone is at most six steps away from, or connected to, any other person on Earth. While the Vietnam War was raging, silver bracelets were created to raise awareness of, and show support for, American servicemen who were prisoners of war (POW) or missing in action (MIA). After the war, black bracelets were produced to pay homage to any of our armed forces killed in action (KIA). The orange bracelet is more recent and symbolizes all those, living and deceased, who have suffered from diseases, combat wounds, and post traumatic stress resulting from their Vietnam service. These bracelets honor the memory and sacrifice of our troops one of the central goals of this book. You will be riveted by the indescribable stories told by veterans, about veterans, and for veterans, and by the families of the lost or still missing MIAs. More than 3,400,000 men and women served in Southeast Asia. Although close to 60 percent of all Vietnam veterans who served in-country are no longer alive, the families of all these veterans will continue to be affected by the Vietnam War for generations. This book illustrates the misery and despair experienced by both soldiers and victims of this visceral war, but also the exhilaration of combat, and the camaraderie felt, during their respective tours, to present day.

The Hunt for Njonjo
BY Jack Kassinger
ISBN-13: ISBN-10:
Colonel Simon Njonjo, a rebel soldier who is loyal to the ousted former president of Zimbabwe, has mounted a brutal attack on Harare Station, a CIA outpost. The bloody assault leaves many station personnel dead and three missing, including Mike Shocklee. No sign of them can be found in Zimbabwe; no ransom is requested, and it's suspected the men have been taken into Mozambique for political purposes. It also is suspected that they will be mistreated, and quite probably tortured or killed. But the CIA's hands are tied when the American president makes it clear that norescue teams are to search across the border in Mozambique; the unstable political situation there makes the CIA employees expendable.

Topography Is Fate - North African Battlefields of World War II
BY Photographs by Matthew Arnold; Foreword by Hilary Roberts; Essay by Natalie Zelt
ISBN-13: ISBN-10:
This project, recently published, by the German publisher, Kehrer Verlag, considers the varied landscapes of North Africa that the soldier of World War II was forced to endure. Thousands of miles from home, largely untraveled and ignorant of lands and peoples outside his home country, he was dropped onto the shores of what must have seemed to him a dangerous and alien environment his understanding of the land limited to stereotype, myth and the relevant army field manual.

These poems, for the most part, depict the time I served with the 1st Marine Division in the I Corps Sector of South Vietnam; from its triple canopies in the Annamese Cordillera to the sun-bleached savannahs that stretched and spilled-out into the South China Sea.
