This day, Memorial Day, is a time for remembrance of all those who lost their lives defending our country. I would suggest it is also a time to re-dedicate our selves to protecting our country for our future generations. It is in this way that we will really honor our fallen members. God bless the United States of America.

- Donald F. Curtis,

Memorial Day By Gabriel Gonzalez It?s another three day weekend A time for having fun What is this holiday really for When everything is said and done This day started out to honor Those who had made the ultimate sacrifice Now we see it as another day off To barbeque with drinks on ice But let us take some time To remember those who went before Those who struggled so hard To keep open freedoms door Think of those whose lives were given On the grounds of Bunker Hill Those of the American Revolution Fighting so that we could have free will World War I took the American Doughboy To fight in someone else?s yard We lost so many young men then But still they fought hard The Second World War was to end it all Tyranny, Racism and Oppression The only thing that we learned Was that war keeps coming in succession The Korean War was our next test Followed by the exotic lands of Nam We have almost perfected the way To kill others just with a bomb More recent events have caused us To pray for peace once again Desert Shield and Desert Storm Pushed back a madman?s reign Now comes an enemy that hides Thinking he will die a martyr He kills the innocent indiscriminately Making our resolve that much stronger All of them should be remembered From Yorktown to the Twin Towers Enjoy your day of relaxation But remember them to the higher Power

- Gabriel G. Gonzalez,

Today is a time to remember those who arent with us any longer. Some were lost while on active duty, but just as important are those we have lost after theyir seperation due to circumstances from actuive duty. All our conflicts have scarred veterans severly, some seperate not knowing that they will health issues from their service. Most recently the Gulf War Syndrome. God Bless them, and Rest in Peace!

- Jim Kotoff, AO1NAC/AW USNRET,

When I think of Memorial Day, it brings to my mind a Holiday to come together with family, loved ones & friends, to reflect, honor and give thanks to the many heroic men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom and great country. Furthermore, it is a day to give thanks to our active military and Veterans, who have and currently are protecting our American nation. Thanks to all our U.S. military personnel, both past and present. U.S. Veterans, we thank you and appreciate you, and all that you have done.

Memorial Day is a day to remember all members the Military, especially family members that have served in all wars since the civil war until now 2011. I pray daily for family and friends that have given their lives so that our World may be a better place to live.

- F. KINNEY,

Every Veterans Day and Every Memorial Day and all the rest of the days in the year I die a thousand deaths! My job was to save lives and I am proud to have served with my MARINES but I die a thousand deaths every day when I ask why. Why was allowed to come home and so many brothers didnt! Semper Fi to all those who have served and to all those who will serve in the future. Fair Winds and Following Seas!

- Doc Conner,

Some people look at Memorial Day as the 1st day of summer when all the pools open and barbecue pits are going strong. When in reality if it was not for the Veteran who sacrificed so much and many gave their lives for our freedom we need to remind these people that the only reason they can go swimming or they can have their barbeques and get together is because of the Veterans and the sacrifices they made. Tell these people to take a couple of minutes out of their day and remember all of our heroes living and dead. Also tell them to make sure that they acknowledge Veterans anytime they cross paths and to thank them for their service to our country.

- Charlie McCarty,

I remember. Memorial Day is the official remembering time for me. Lost comrades, sad events , hostile encounters, the awful cold in winter and heat in summer...I remember Korea and my brother Marines in that far-off place. I will be at the Quantico National Cemetery and/ or the National Museum of the Marine Corps for services and service...I remember.
