In honor of Galen Smith ,KIA 10-23-69,high school buddy and friend ,I was in country about 2 months and a week when he was killed .Also in honor of Roger L.Porter ,who I didnt know personally but was WIA and died 8 days later .Roger was in the tower ,above me when we were hit by a sapper unit on 6-12-70 RIP my friends ...

This Memorial Day I remember my father, Ernest Mc Donald Jr. (WWII) and my high school friend, Dwight Pinza Mc Keathon (Vietnam). I appreciate them and all who served and are serving in the Military. All gave some...Dwight gave all. May the UNIVERSE bless all our warriors. Know that we have not forgotten you.

my day is spent at the cemetary visiting with my brother P.F.C. David arnold who was killed in action 3/11/69 and the gravesite of my father who served in ww2 i know first hand that freedom is not free

I did not get to ride to DC this year but I and another brother rode to the Traveling Viet Nam Wall and visited and talked with other Veteran Brothers and Sisters. I am just blessed that I am still able to ride the Harley and visit with others. D W Conrad USMC 56 - 60

Over the past years I have attended the Memorial Day Observance at Fort Leavenworth. That was the plan again this year until word was received of the death of Sgt. Michael Knapp in service to our nation in Afghanistan. This morning Sgt. Knapp will arrive at the airport here to be met by his family, friends and the Patriot Guard. We will escort him to the site of his memorial service in Shawnee, KS. This will be a time of thanks and remembrance of the sacrifice of Sgt. Knapp and all others who have given their lives in defense of all that we hold dear.

This Memorial Day, in honor of all those who served I would like everyone to spend a minute contemplating what they can do to end wars. Believing is seeing. If we believe there will always be war, it is more likely to continue than if we believe it is time to honor peaceful coexistence. God Bless the families who have lost family members to the battle for peace.

I will ride with my biker friends to Pinelawn Cemetery, Sat. morning 5-26, here on Long Island and decorate the graves of our fallen with American Flags. Always remember my Uncle John and my father, both were WW II Veterans. My father-in-law, Louis Paladino, Korean War Veteran. Just this week joined the American Legion Riders and the Patriot Guard Riders club. Our home is decorated with Old Glory and POW/MIA flags. Always proud to be an American and thankful for those who have given me my freedoms!! God Bless our Veterans. God Bless our Troops! POW/MIA I will never, ever forget !!

I think of my friends who never got a chance to live a full life...those of us disabled and never even knew it...and those that live with it everyday. None of us asked to walk through the valley of tears we did it because we wanted to. We fought, not because of some politicians idea of war, but for the man, or woman, right next to you. Those of us that are here, should always remember those that arent, because its through the sacrifice that they made, insured we would have the life we have today. Welcome home to all the Brothers and Sisters in arms.

A lot men lost their lives for the freedom of this country. But their are a lot of kids that do not understand this concept. I wish nothing but happiness and peace for this nation of ours. I wish that no one had to die for freedom! But to keep it someone has to fight for it and I hate to say it Die for our freedom. Peace to all

we have a parade every year in oakville,ct at vfw post 7330 i am a viet veteran and i will always honor our veterans past and present.this country has to do 180 degree turnaround and take back our country,we are loseing our rights,semper-fi and god bless america

I moved to Elk Creek, Missouri in 2010 from Kendall, New York. I found that they dont celebrate Memorial Day like they do up North. It seems they are to busy to honor those men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice. I have tried to get people and veterans organizations intrested in a parade or Memorial Day ceremony but to no avail. Memorial Day is a time for reflection and remembrance, for all those who served and are serving. Here in Pendleton, OR, we had two ceremonies in recognition of all veterans and active/reserve duty service personnel. Personally, I served in the 9th Infantry Division in Vietnam, 67-68.

Having served for 27 Glorious years and am still supporting the troops as a civilian contractor. I am not only Honored but humbled on this day. The Motto of the Viet-nam ERA was We came together and we will all come home together Is burned in my memory forever. Although we have fallen comrads that were left behind, WE will not let their sacrifice or memory be forgotten. Memorial Day is a day of rememberance and humbleness for the FREEDOM we all share. May God Bless this Country Forever.

As a Vietnam Marine Veteran I spend a quiet day at home to honor all fallen comrades. I fly two special flags that were flown over the capital, One for a close friend who I grew up with, graduated high school with, were in the boy scouts together and were Marine brothers. The other flag is for my Marine brother who I had the great honor and privilege to escort home to his final resting place. One flag flys from 6am to 9am and the other 9am to noon at half mast. At night we light candles and say a prayer for all fallen warriors who gave their lives to protect our freedom. Our flag flys 24-7-365 to honor all who gave some and some who gave all. God bless the USA and God bless the Marine Corps

I will celebrate this Memorial Day with family and a few friends. Of course we will be grilling. In my own quiet, private way I will remember my father, who served in the army, WWII, and made his transition in 2001; my mother, who made her transition in 2009; and my special high school friend, PFC DWIGHT PINZA MC KEATHON, DOB 06/23/1949, KIA 08/02/1969, QUANG TIN, SOUTH VIETNAM. I especially honor and remember him. He made the ultimate sacrifice...he gave his life. Blessed be, gentle warrior. I will remember and honor u forever.
